Hartmann, Blackmon & Kilgore, P.C. Announces 2017 Promotions and New Hires
Hartmann, Blackmon & Kilgore P.C. (hb&k), one of the Gulf Coast’s leading CPA and business consulting firms, has announced several staff promotions for 2017.
LeeAnn May has been promoted to senior manager.
May has been promoted to senior manager of accounting and audit services. Upon graduating from Troy University in 2008, May accepted a position as a staff accountant with hb&k. Throughout her career with hb&k, she has focused primarily in the audit and assurance fields, working with non-profit, governmental, contractor, and employee benefit plan audit clients. May enjoys working with the next generation of CPAs through promoting and assisting with the organization of hb&k’s Leadership Academy, assisting in their recruiting efforts, and supporting continuous professional growth through her participation in their Training and Learning Committee. She is also a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the financial advisor for the University of South Alabama’s Chi Omega chapter.
Kate Thigpen and Matt Nettles were promoted to supervisors.
Thigpen was promoted to supervisor in tax services. She joined hb&k in September 2013 after completing both her undergraduate and Master’s of Accountancy degrees at the University of Alabama (UA). While attending UA, she spent a semester participating in hb&k’s internship program in spring 2012. She focuses on tax services for nonprofit organizations, corporations, LLC’s, and individuals. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Alabama State Society of Certified Accountants and serves on the board for the University of Alabama Accountancy Alumni Young Professionals Board. Thigpen oversees the internship program at hb&k by managing the schedules and professional development of each intern class.
Nettles has been promoted to supervisor in the audit department. A graduate of the University of West Florida, he joined hb&k as a staff accountant in January 2013. Nettles focuses on audit and assurance services, working with non-profit, governmental, contractor, and employee benefit plan audit clients. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is extremely involved in promoting hb&k’s Project 40 initiative within the firm.
Derrick Cook, Erann Thompson, Treya Tindal, and Chris VanArsdale were promoted to senior accountants.
Cook is a graduate of Troy University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s in business administration with a concentration in accounting. In his new role, Cook will continue to serve clients in a variety of industries within hb&k’s tax and audit departments. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. Cook coordinates the schedule of involvement with recruiting efforts within the Troy University School of Accountancy.
Thompson serves clients in a wide variety of industries by providing assurance services such as audits, reviews, compilations, tax services, forensic accounting and litigation support. Thompson is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in professional accounting. She is extremely involved in hb&k’s internal committees and assists with planning and organizing firm-wide recruiting efforts.
Tindal received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Mobile. Upon graduation, she lived briefly in Nashville where she worked as an auditor for a public accounting firm before returning to Fairhope, Ala. Tindal started working for hb&k in 2016 in both the audit and tax departments. She is involved in the planning and organization of hb&k’s Leadership Academy and assists with an internal committee dedicated to supporting and training new employees of the firm.
VanArsdale is a graduate of the University of South Alabama (USA) with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting. During his final year at USA, VanArsdale participated in hb&k’s internship program during spring 2014, which lead to his permanent position on the team. He assists with hb&k’s recruiting efforts as a representative of the company at USA’s recruiting events.
Matt Brown was promoted to staff accountant II.
Brown was promoted in the tax services division. He graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2009 and with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting in 2012. He started working for hb&k in our Brewton office in 2015 in both the tax and audit departments preparing tax returns, compilations, reviews and working on various audit assignments.
In addition to these staff promotions, hb&k is also pleased to announce Stephen Swinney and Kirsten Robertson have joined the firm as staff accountants.
Swinney is a graduate of the University of South Alabama (USA) with a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration with a major in accounting and is currently pursuing his Master’s of Accountancy. During his time at USA, he served as a graduate assistant on campus and as an intern at hb&k. He will be working at the Mobile location.
Robertson is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting. She previously served as an audit intern for hb&k in the spring of 2017. She will be working at the Fairhope location.
